The Department of OBGYN is a major clinical department with qualified and experienced faculty consisting of Professors, Associate professors and Assistant Professors and Senior Resident doctors. They are aided in the clinical work by postgraduate resident doctors. The department runs 4 units.

  • Outpatient facilities are available on all days of the week.
  • Indoor facilities are available round the clock with 150 beds
  • There is a clean labour room and an obstetric intensive care unit.
  • There is also a well-equipped septic labour room.
  • There is a 24×7 functioning major Operation Theatre and minor operation theatre for the full range of surgical services.

A few details about the scope of our services is mentioned below.

  • Prenatal genetic testing in cytogenetic lab for screening various fetal anomalies
  • Comprehensive and holistic care for the pregnant women is provided with the highest level of evidence based guidelines. These include identifying and timely treatment of high risk pregnancies.
  • The department offers painless labour to all mothers coming in for delivery.
  • Holistic approach health is incorporated in our department with prenatal and postnatal yoga facility is available.

 

MTP services are also provided by adhering to national and local government guidelines. Pregnancy complications including medical disorders like seizures, strokes, cardiac diseases are managed with multi-disciplinary approach.

Fertility Care

For couples suffering with infertility, full range of Assisted Reproductive Techniques is provided.

All reconstructive surgeries including vaginoplasty, metroplasty are done.

Gynaecological Services

The Department caters to women coming with all genital bleeding problems. They are subjected to systematic care under the guidance of all the experienced faculty.

Screening for all genital cancers is provided.

eg.PAP smear, Tumour markers

Robotic surgeries – Da Vinci surgery available for all advanced gynecology surgeries. Contraceptive services

Family planning surgery is offered for those seeking the same.

All couples are offered the entire range of contraceptive services (pills, injections, implants etc) based on the women’s choice.

Equivalent of government contraceptive are available for a price.

Minimal invasive surgery / Keyhole surgery is the one of the core focus of the department. Many procedures which are possible to be done by this technique are done using advanced techniques. These include

  • Laparoscopy
  • Hysteroscopy

The above are used both for diagnostic and operative procedures.

Problems like fibroid are common among women. While surgical removal is the commonly followed procedure, in our department we have popularized the use of minimally invasive procedures like the following.

  • Uterine Artery Embolization
  • Nonsurgical treatment of increased  menstrual bleeding /fibroid

The above techniques reduce operative morbidity and need for anaesthesia.

OPD Hours

Monday to Friday – 9.00am – 4.00pm
Saturday and Sundays – 9.00am – 1.00pm
A qualified doctor is available 24 hours a day in the hospital.

OPD

  1. 6 Consultation rooms

  3. Minor O.T. for Office Procedure
  4. Colposcopy room
  5. S.T. Room
  6. C.T.C. Integrated counseling and testing centre for HIV 1 AND 2 where free testing and counseling is done.
  7. The OPD has a patient waiting lounge with a seating capacity of 50 patients, provided with a beverage/snack vending machine, drinking water and rest rooms. The OPD is well staffed with a Secretary, nurses, counselors, technicians and group D helper staff.

IPD (In-patient Department)

  • 150 beds available with 90 beds for pregnant and post-delivery mothers.60 beds for gynaecology patients.
  • The 2 wards are well ventilated, clean and sanitized with imported breakable cots and bedside lockers for each patient.
  • Every ward has examination and procedure rooms, male and female duty doctor’s room, well equipped nurse’s station with crash carts carrying all emergency drugs.
  • Each ward has separate seminars rooms with seating capacity of 50, with complete teaching aids.

OT / Labour Room Complex
Major OT

  • 2 well equipped, air-conditioned dedicated OTs for OBG, operate round-the-clock with well-trained OT staff and in-house anaesthetist.

Minor OT

  • To cater to all minor OT procedures next to the major OTs.

Recovery Room

  • With 8 beds available adjacent to the OT for all post-OP patients with monitors for intensive, immediate post-OP care.

Post-Operative Ward

  • With 8 beds and dedicated staff to monitor the post-OP patients.

Labour Room Complex

  • Spacious, well ventilated labour complex with pre-labour waiting room with 5 beds, having the facility for labour analgesia providing painless delivery. Pre-labour waiting room has the equipment for continuous foetal monitoring of these patients.

Labour / Delivery Room

  • Having 3labourand delivery tables, having continuous foetal monitoring facility and ultrasonography machine for emergency cases.

Neo-natal Resuscitation Room

  • Provided with 4 advanced neo-natal resuscitation units in a sterile, sanitized environment with neo-natologist in attendance.

Post-natal / Post-partum Ward

  • With 8 beds, being staffed with experienced nurses in mid-wifery, who assist the new mother in feeding and baby care.
  • The Department of OBG has 3 seminar rooms, each with a seating capacity of 30-40, with LCD projectors and display screen.
  • The department has exclusive departmental library, with AV aids for patient education and viewing.
