The process of writing the new definition for medical education by VIMS&RC started in the year 2000. With this legacy, the Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre is creating history through its academic achievements and social responsibilities. The moulding of the future doctors was initiated with a small group of 100 students and is now catering medical knowledge to thousands of students. Seven departments of Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, such as MEDICAL UG and PG (MD & MS), SUPER SPECIALITY (DM & MCH), PhD & FELLOWSHIP programmes, DENTAL – BDS (UG) & MDS(PG), ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCES (UG, BSC & PG MSC), PHARMACY (Diploma and B.Pharmacy) and PHYSIOTHERAPY (BPT – UG) are building the student’s medical career.
In 2007 Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre achieved the state’s highest results among the medical colleges in the final year of the MBBS course, and the scale of quality education, as well as the achievements, are increasing with time.

Emergency Medicine Department: VIMS&RC
The Department of Emergency Medicine at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre is comprised of a team of competent Emergency Physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals dedicated to providing exceptional medical treatment to all walks of life in Bangalore and around the clock. A team of multidisciplinary specialists is ready 24/7 to assist emergency physicians in offering unparalleled medical knowledge at the earliest. The emergency Medicine Department is equipped with Triage, Resuscitation, Acute care unit, Minor OT, Observation unit, a futuristic point-of-care diagnostic lab and swift access to advanced laboratory, radiology and blood bank services, the department is a testament to an ideal Emergency Department.
The Department of Emergency Medicine at VIMS & RC has a fully recognized residency program in Emergency Medicine. The MD Emergency Medicine Program enrolled its inaugural class in 2011, the foremost in Karnataka. Sustained growth, development, and improvement establishes VIMS & RC Emergency Medicine Residency as one of the top academic programs. With a goal of developing proficient leaders and exemplary clinicians in the specialty of emergency medicine, residents are taught to recognize, evaluate, and manage the full spectrum of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. VIMS & RC imparts immense opportunity to care for large numbers of critically ill and injured patients.
EMK
EM Karnataka is an affiliation comprising of Emergency Physicians from across the state. Emergency Medicine is flourishing as a speciality and Karnataka personifies that aspect as much as any other state. Every year the EM-Karnataka Family keeps increasing with new faces joining the fold in various institutes within the state. Under the banner of EMK, these physicians assemble once a month to hold an academic session for the purpose of sharing knowledge. This academic tradition has gone on for the past two and a half years without a single session missed.
The Conference included several hands-on workshops, panel discussions and competitions and was lauded as a huge success by delegates and faculty alike. This year Vydehi Institute of Medical Science and Research Center will be hosting the third Annual State level Emergency Medicine Conference and will hope to replicate last year’s success.
EMK strives to promote the skill and art of practicing Evidence-based Medicine. Since its inception, EMK has come a long way in achieving that goal and the EM-Karnataka Family keeps growing by the day.
