Dr. Durgaprasad

Dr Durgaprasad Reddy B has been associated with Vydehi Institute of Medical Science and Research Center as Professor and Head, Vydehi Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Bangalore. He is actively involved in training many students in the successful completion of their postgraduate and super-specialty programs and also provided sustained Health care for over 14,626 beneficiaries.

His passion to serve the poor and needy took him across various states of India to organize many screening camps, which benefited several patients in the early detection of anomalies and further saved their lives. This initiative towards preventive care and early detection has increased the patient encounter by a vast percentage and created more training time for his super-specialty students, thereby gaining more exposure and experience to be confident in their profession. He has designed single patch closure for AV canals without using a bridge.

He has invented concomitant procedures for coronary artery and peripheral artery disease. This has reduced the financial burden and the number of days spent in the ICU/Hospital by the patient. The Ministry of Health and family welfare, Govt. of Karnataka has bestowed upon him the award of excellence in recognition of his services to the society in the field of Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.
